Famous Fat Dave’s food tour

May 3rd, 2010

I recently had the gastronomical pleasure of accompanying a food tour in Brooklyn led by Famous Fat Dave, a former New York City cab driver who now carts people around in a vintage checker cab to various restaurants, food stands and at least one secret lobster roll operation. Angelenos Rich Salas and Chelsy Watson (above, reveling in a slice of pepperoni pizza from Carmine’s) chartered a course through North Brooklyn, which, along with being home to restaurant-giddy Williamsburg, is my neighborhood. I can walk to Peter Luger Steakhouse – and have achieved Carnivore Level 10 there once before – but I was not aware you could order their gristle ‘n grease bacon slabs to-go and finish them off in the parking lot.
